The consumer demands transparency about where his purchased products have been produced. The textile industry is not adequately fulfilling this demand. For this reason we have been a member of the initiative “Ja-zu-Deutschland” (“Yes-to-Germany”) for several years now. 

We have filed for a seal ID and received it. Now we can give our customers the opportunity to mark their products and create production transparency for the final consumers. 

We can make this seal ID including logo available to our customers who produce elastic knit goods in Germany.

• The seal can only be given to tubular knit goods that have been produced, finished and processed in Germany.

Sustainability means, for us, the prudent application of energy and raw materials. At all points of added value, this guideline is consistently integrated into product planning.

We especially focus on the following:

1. No, or little, pollution through emissions (exhaust, wastewater, waste air)
2. Chemicals (Threshold Limit Value/TLV)
3. Skin compatibility

 

The most important input factors are compiled in an environmental auditing and evaluated on a monthly basis.

Based on this environmental analysis we can take decisions to improve the environmental compatibility of our production.

Meiser places emphasis on the following measurements for environmental protection:

• Reduction of energy demand
• Reduction of water demand
• Processing of wastewater to transfer back to the public sewage plants
• Reduction of organic and inorganic pollution
• Processing of waste air
• Usage, safety, storage and transport of chemicals
• Waste and recycling of waste materials

One of the most important quality characteristics for the end consumer is the textile’s percentage of shrinkage after its first wash. Previously, shrinkage values could only be slightly influenced during production. However, today it’s desirable to design fabrics as resistant to shrinkage as possible during processing.

Our modern dryer equipment with very effective Krumpf-Calenders supports this endeavor even further. Through this process, we can achieve a high wash resistance combined with only a small percentage of shrinkage without any chemical additives. 

Our internal goal is the production of fabrics with shrinkage values below 5%. Washing samples constantly control these values. 

The following characteristics crucially influence the test results of the washing samples:

• Loading of wash machine and dryer
• Detergent used
• Type of equipment
• Type of identification marking
• Type of measurement

We are constantly developing our products and processes. Why? Because we as a company want to become even more resource-efficient and sustainable. We have been monitoring our carbon footprint since 2013. Since 2016, we have been focusing on effective measures to measurably reduce our CO2 emissions. To date, we have been able to reduce our emissions by more than 70%. We have done our homework.

But we would like to go one step further. That is why we support the "Klimalandwirt Initiative".

These climate farmers work closely with the company "Next Farming" (a BayWa subsidiary). They receive special education, further training and certification. The focus is on conscious and sustainable cultivation of the fields and the associated humus build-up. The core of the initiative can be presented in three pillars:

1. Humus formation with CO2 sequestration
2. Biodiversity
3. Water balance

Experts enable and accompany the farmers during this initiative. The result? These fields and soils absorb 2.5 tonnes more CO2 per hectare per year. In our district alone, a total of over 600 hectares are already being cultivated in this pilot project.

Thanks to the climate farmers, with a sponsorship for an area of 50 ha, we compensate for approx. 125 tonnes of CO2 per year.

REACH

The EU Chemical Ordinance REACH has been in effect since July 1st, 2007. As an EU ordinance, REACH is valid in all member countries is a requirement to be implemented.

What is REACH (R Registration, E Evaluation, A Authorization & Restriction, CH of Chemicals)?

The REACH system is based on the principle that the industry needs to take individual responsibility. According to the principle “no data, no market” only chemical agents that have been registered, evaluated and approved can be brought into the markets of member countries. The evaluation of chemical agents is supported through the compilation of so-called exposition-scenarios.

If a chemical agents falls into the area of application of REACH it must have a registration number from ECHA. ECHA is the responsible agency within the European Union, headquartered in Helsinki.

We have developed the Meiser PA TESTKIT so our customers are able to detect curl defects in the yarn of polyamide qualities at an early stage.

The PA TESTKIT allows for simple dyeing of a textile sample in the knitting mill. The dyeing process is set up so that its simple to execute and can be done parallel to the knitting process. The PA TESTKIT includes everything that you will need.
